New House: Adventures in the Land of the Blinds

2013-07-14 21.57.55

The back door is no longer naked!  Woot!

(Here’s a before-shot.)

These things are easier to install than I feared.  Put it in this afternoon with very little trouble/effort.

The ones on the dining room windows (different make/design) are, however, seriously attempting to drive me to drink….

New House: Paintings Up

Just put up some art in the house:

The first picture is the view to the left as you step in the front door (facing towards the living room).  Followed by the view to the right.

The second two are the views from the living room (towards the front door).

The final picture is the only one that aren’t of Mom’s paintings.  I’ve got two cheap-but-nice pictures of the rock escarpments and isles off the Pacific coast of Washington, and a clock that I like.

None of these are monetarily valuable, but the emotional value is inestimable!

(And, yes, the picture backgrounds definitely show that we’re still moving in.  Pardon the mess, please.  It’s temporary!)

New House: Pictures

Some are from it was under construction, some are finished.  None are post-move-in, so no furniture, etc., in these, except the welcome mats.  We put those in as soon as the deal was closed and the mortgage signed for.  Kind of “We’re Here!” markings.

New House

Last week, Kit and I bought a new house.  Moved in on Saturday (day before yesterday), and spent most of yesterday trying to recover from moving.  (I just had to pick July in Florida for my move, didn’t I?  I may be even crazier than I think.)

Met some of our neighbors today.  They’re moving in to the house next door.  (It’s all new construction for the whole neighborhood.  About a quarter of the planned houses have even begun construction.)  Very nice Cuban couple, with their daughter there to help with the move.

The dogs love having a yard.  Kit and I love having a house.  The kitchen alone is better than our old apartment!

Movie Review: Man of Steel

Man of Steel came out today.  Just watched it.  Regular screen, not IMAX or 3D or anything like that.  Have to say, I definitely enjoyed it.

One important detail is that the actress who plays Lois Lane actually looked old enough for the part this time around.

The parts on Krypton were very, very cool.

And Superman actually gets into a fight in this one, with someone who can hit back!  How cool is that!  (I’m trying to ignore Superman II because, let’s face it, that movie should never have made it all the way to the theatre.)

Won’t go into more details, since I don’t want to engage in spoilers.

Movie Review: Skyfall

The new James Bond flick.  Saw it in the theatre last night.

Definitely one of the better ones.  They’re continuing the “show how tragic James’ life really is” theme, but doing it better here than in Quantum.

Won’t say much more, because just about anything would be a spoiler of one sort or another.

7 out of 10.  Good flick.
